In order to better explain AS 1428.1-2009, there is a new illustrated Guide designed to assist in translating and understanding the Standard”.

If you work in building & construction, the work you carry out would almost certainly need to comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
  
The BCA references many Australian Standards and if your work complies with those Standards, it will be deemed-to-satisfy the performance requirements of the BCA.
  
One of the important Standards referenced by the BCA is AS 1428.1-2009, Design for access and mobility - General requirements for access - New building work.
